SAVE THE DATE: ROMERO vs. OPD TRIAL!!

Set for Wednesday June 17th, 8:30am Dept. 23 (most likely to be moved to Dept. 10) at the Ventura County Courthouse, 800 S. Victoria Ave, Ventura, CA.

In 2013, the City of Oxnard, the Oxnard Police Department launched a retaliation campaign against me, by mailing me five traffic citations for marching with the community against police brutality. Now the Ventura County District Attorney has vowed to make an example out of Francisco Chavo Romero, but, the community has continued to fight back, to protest and denounce police brutality.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: You can help us shame the City of Oxnard, and the Oxnard Police Department in the next few days to expose this cowardly retaliatory attack against Chavo, which really is an attack on the community. We will release an online petition drive to demand that these citations be dropped. Be on the look out for the call out.

FOR NOW – Today, if you haven’t done so, please email or call the VC District Attorney to demand they drop these charges! Click on the link below to find out how – it takes a minute: DROP THE CHARGES! AGAINST FRANCISCO CHAVO ROMERO!

District Attorney Totten,

I am writing to demand that the five traffic citations that have been issued to Francisco Romero, Case No.2013598532, be DROPPED immediately. It is clear that the five citations are retaliation by the Oxnard Police Department, and your office, against him for being a vocal critic of police brutality and for his participation in the Colectivo Todo Poder al Pueblo (“Collective”). The Collective has been a leading force that is organizing the victims of police brutality in Oxnard.

We will hold your office accountable if you continue to pursue in leveling these charges against him. The pretext of continuing this attack, is that the he was the only “identifiable” person in the march. We understand clearly, that this is an excuse to further repress, marginalize and silence the community of Oxnard that has righteous grievances against the legacy of police brutality against the Mexican community of Oxnard in particular and against the poor working class in general.

Drop the charges NOW!
